What areas can be treated with IPL Photo Rejuvenation?
IPL can be used on your face, neck, hands, legs and virtually anywhere sun damage appears.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending on the type and severity of the problem, a series of four to six treatment sessions may be recommended.
When will I see the results?
Clients usually notice some improvement after every session and there should be a substantial improvement after the end of the series of sessions recommended.
What is an IPL procedure like?
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you may be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently placed on the appropriate skin area and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a light sting like the snapping of a small rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. Each treatment takes about 20-40 minutes. Generally there is some redness or puffiness. Most people can return to normal activity 1-3 days after the treatment.
Many salons and aestheticians offer IPL, what is the difference between CosMedix MD and these centers?
CosMedix MD offers a number of procedures to treat damaged skin and will use the technique that is best for your skin. The various lasers are very expensive and most businesses do not have as wide a variety or as current techniques as are available at CosMedix MD. The less expensive IPL machines are generally not as effective for treating vascular problems (blood vessels, rosacea and pinkness).
What is the IPL in combination with Levulan™ procedure like?
This is called the "Levulan™ Boost" for IPL. Levulan is applied to the damaged skin for about one hour prior to having IPL treatment. This results in about 2-3 days of redness, scaling and slight swelling of the treated area. Sunlight (even through window) must be avoided for two days after application in order to prevent a severe sunburn-like reaction. The skin then sheds the sun-damaged areas, leaving fresher, smoother, evener textured skin.
